Family Events and Story hours for fall

                             WEEKLY PRESCHOOL STORY HOURS

                                              3 & 4 year olds

                                   Tuesdays, 10:30 - 11:15 a.m.

Story hours are designed for the independent listener.  Theme related crafts and activities are included:

Registration begins Sept 1:  September 18, 25, October 2, 9

Registration begins October 1:  October 23, 30, November 6, 13

Registration begins November 1:  November 27, December 4, 11, 18

                                         "MICHIGAN READS!"

                 Saturday, September 29, 2012      11:00 - 12:00 noon

              Recommended for children, ages preschool through third grade                                               Registration is required  

September is "Michigan Reads!" celebration month.  Join us as we pick up the "One Book, One Community" concept and help encourage literacy skills in young children.  The 2012 Book Choice is, Moose on the Loose.  More moose stories, craft, games, treats and fun giveaways are in the works for a very good time.

                                            A Family Event

Fiddlers Restrung is made up entirely of students from Saline High School.  They are one of the best fiddle ensembles in the nation, promising a diverse repertoire that engages the audience with energy and witty charm.  Members are top scholars and athletes, and all share a passion for performing.  Don't miss this exciting presentation.

                                    HALLOWEEN COSTUME PARTY

Tuesday, October 23, 2012      6:30 - 7:30 p.m.        Registration Required

                                 Recommended for children ages 3 - 8

Children are invited to come dressed in their Halloween costumes.  Enter a contest for most original and most colorful.  Win a book of your choice.  Storyteller, Ron Hinman, from North Oakland County Storytellers and Storytellers Connection will delight us with some not-so-scary stories.  Make a pumpkin craft to take home.  Play games.  Enjoy refreshments, treats and receive a free reflective trick-or-treat bag.  Don't miss the fun!

                                    HALLOWEEN TRICK-OR-TREAT

                    Wednesday, October 31, 2012         4:00 - 5:00 p.m.

Kids! On your way out to trick or treat, stop by the library to pick up a free reflective trick-or-treat bag (until supplies last).  Just wear your costume to the library.  Let us take a picture.  Here's wishing you a happy and safe Halloween.

                                    WELCOME "GOODIE BAG"

Boys and girls in kindergarten and 1st grade are invited to sign up for their first library card.  Receive a goodie bag filled with fun things.  Show your card from another library and receive a goodie bag as well.  IT'S FREE AND FUN!

                                FREE MCDONALD'S KIDS MEALS

The Walled Lake McDonald wishes to encourage kids to visit the library so pick up a special bookmark at the library.  Check out some books and get it stamped.  Collect 5 stamps and take the bookmark to McDonald's located on West Maple in Walled Lake to get your free Happy Meal or Mighty Kids Meal.  Complete one bookmark then start another one.  See you at the Library.

                                   HOMEWORK TUTOR HELPER

Every Monday starting September 24, 2012, 4-6 p.m. for grade school students.

No registration Required -- Drop In.  This service is free and offered by High School students.  All subjects.

If High School students wish to be tutor helpers and receive communiity service credits, please contact the library.
